About Us

In the spring of 2005, the College of Veterinary Medicine opened a new 10,000 square-foot ambulatory clinic building on County Home Road north of downtown Marysville. The new building enables our staff to provide more comprehensive services for our clients, including seminars and consultations. The clinic includes a surgery suite, pharmacy, reception area, conference room, laboratory, and housing for veterinary students. Since its inception in the late 1960s, the clinic outgrew its original facility located off Milford Road.

Faculty Veterinarians

Our veterinarians have a tremendous amount of clinical experience in food animal and equine medicine. As Ohio State faculty in theĀ Department of Veterinary Preventive Medicine, they base all of their treatment decisions and protocols on the latest scientific research and best practices in the field. They also have ready access to other faculty in the College of Veterinary Medicine, Ohio State University Extension, Department of Animal Sciences, and the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center, allowing them to draw on the knowledge of the many experts within The Ohio State University system.

Staff

Our staff also has a tremendous amount of experience. Each has worked with Ohio State Large Animal Services for multiple years. They not only have the skills to manage a full-service veterinary practice, but are able to manage a practice in an academic setting as a learning environment. Their primary mission is to serve clients.

Veterinary Students

Veterinarians have been entrusted to protect the livelihood of farmers, both by caring for their animals and by safeguarding the human food they produce. The College of Veterinary Medicine at The Ohio State University is committed to having each one of our veterinary students work within an on-farm ambulatory practice, giving them hands-on experience in large and small-scale livestock operations. As part of a fourth-year rotation, Ohio State veterinary students work under the supervision of the Marysville faculty and assist them with all aspects of animal care as part of a team. You may see our students working alongside the faculty veterinarians as they care for your animals.

Ohio State is one of six Big Ten universities with a college of veterinary medicine, and the only college among those with such an extensive ambulatory clinic. The Tufts College of Veterinary Medicine in Massachusetts has a remote ambulatory clinic located in Connecticut, and the University of California at Davis has a similar one located in Tulare. The clinic in Marysville is unique in that all Ohio State veterinary students must complete a required rotation here.
