The Department of Veterinary Preventive Medicine at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a veterinarian to provide full-time, large animal ambulatory clinical service and teaching. This individual will join four other faculty members at the OSU Large Animal Services ambulatory clinic located in Marysville, Ohio and will be expected to provide exceptional patient care and excellent client service to a range of large animal clients including dairy and equine, in a clinical teaching setting. While this position will require the successful candidate to work in all aspects of large animal veterinary medicine, the position will have a large equine medicine and surgery component. The Marysville clinic is a full-service veterinary teaching practice providing individual animal, herd-based and emergency services for food and fiber animals and horses.
The Marysville ambulatory service has over 5,500 active clients yielding more than 8,000 farm calls each year and steadily growing. The practice is housed in a 9,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility, which is located approximately 30 miles northwest of the OSU Columbus campus. The Marysville large animal ambulatory clinical rotation is a required core learning experience for all 4th-year veterinary students at OSU and is regularly rated as a top rotation by our veterinary students.
Applicants should be academically oriented and have demonstrated skills and interests in clinical and production medicine and teaching. A successful candidate will currently be a practicing large animal veterinarian, similar to our other current faculty, and so must be dedicated to building and maintaining a satisfied clientele in addition to teaching veterinary students. A successful candidate will also participate in didactic teaching in the pre-clinical veterinary curriculum and will be encouraged to collaborate in field-oriented research with college faculty in Columbus and Wooster.
Required qualifications include a DVM (or equivalent) and eligibility for Ohio veterinary licensure. Graduate training and board certification or eligibility are highly desirable but not required.
